Eleanor of Aquitaine was an important part of history for being the most powerful woman in the middle ages. She was born in 1122 and died on April 1st, 1204. She was daughter of William X. Eleanor inherited a domain larger than the one the king had. When she was 15 she got married to the future Louis VII of France, one month later Louis was still a teen when he died.
When Eleanor was queen she became famous for her beauty and wit. Eleanor was an important part of history for being one of the most powerful women in medieval times. She was Countess of Poitou, Queen of France, and later Queen of England. She influenced politics, sponsored the courtly love movement and even went on the Crusade. In 1147 Eleanor and Louis went on the second crusade. The crusade they went on did not work out really well and their relationship started falling apart. Years later they got divorced. Two months later Eleanor married Henry Of Anjou, and in 1154 he became the King of England. They had five boys and three girls. For a really long time Eleanor played an important part in running Henry’s empire.
In 1173 Eleanor was imprisoned by Henry for awhile because her sons involved her in a plot against their father. Later in 1189 Henry died and Eleanor’s oldest son released her from prison. She later became involved in government while her son Richard went on the third Crusade. She died on April 1, 1204. Eleanor of Aquitaine was a great woman. She accomplished a lot.
